Chapter 18: Lifeline, A Water Storytelling Project
An invitation....and an offer for a special gift.
Dear friends,
This publication, Lifeline: A Water Storytelling Project, is a response to friends and supporters expressing interest in my artistic process and what goes into the making of this work. It’s wonderful to sit down with you each month and reflect on what I’m hearing, seeing, and exploring – to share dialogues with ideas and materials in studio, work happening in context, my meetings with collaborators and so much more. How details become full works, how the big projects evolve, step by step…
Study in the studio of water, my lifelines and ink, 2024
I offer this substack publication as a free subscription to all but some have generously decided to upgrade to a paid subscription in order to support me and this endeavor, which I truly appreciate!
This is change-making work. I am committed to making this work because I believe in it with my whole heart, despite how challenging it is and the unwavering dedication it takes to present independent projects such as Red Regatta and Constellation, which take years to create, develop and fundraise for.
Two ambitious new awe-inspiring water story telling projects are already in the works, engaging in site-specific collaboration with local multigenerational communities. Simultaneous work is unfolding in the studio, prototypes are being made, color studies are underway, really exciting community cross-pollination is already naturally occurring. It is all happening.
I hope you will consider becoming a paid subscriber, gifting a subscription to someone you think would enjoy it or to sharing it with your circle!
And to express my gratitude for your support at this time, everyone who subscribes for or gifts a year long subscription (cost of $80/year) before New Year’s Day will receive a little special something from me in the mail!
Love,
MM
